Social Studies work about Finland

The Republic of Finland is a Nordic country located in the Scandinavian region of Northern Europe. Nordic countries are countries that make up a region of northern Europe called the Nordic region, these consist of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Finland is bordered by Sweden by the west, Russia in the East, Norway its North, and Estonia lies in the South across the Gulf of Finland. The capital of Finland is Helsinky.
There are over 5.3 million people in Finland, though most of these people are in the southern part of the country, there is 40 people every square mile/16 people every km2. Finland is the 8th largest European country with an area of 338.145 km2. Finnish is the main language spoken in Finland, although Swedish is the 2nd language. Along with most of Europe Finland’s currency is the euro. The President of Finland is Tarja Halonen who is a member of The Social Democratic Party of Finland, and their Prime Minister is Matti Vanhanen is a member of The Centre Political Party of Finland, both of these groups are 2 of the most influential political parties in Finland.
Finland declared its independence on December 6, 1917 but was recognized on January 4, 1918. Finland’s economy is highly industrialized, free market economy with an output that is equal to that of larger countries such as Germany, Sweden, France, or even the UK.
